Your overtime pay
- Regular hours
- Your regular rate applies to the first 8 hours worked each day.
- Daily overtime
- 1.5× your rate after 8 hours in a day, up to 12 hours.
- Double time
- 2× your rate after 12 hours in a day.
- Weekly overtime
- 1.5× your rate after 40 qualifying hours in a workweek.
- How daily and weekly overtime work together
- Hours already paid as daily overtime don’t count again toward weekly overtime, so no hour is paid twice.
What this means for me
At $30.00/h, an overtime hour pays $45.00. A double-time hour pays $60.00.
Estimate based on the published rules shown here. This calculation hasn’t been independently checked. Special jobs, exemptions or averaging agreements may change your pay.

How Your Pay Was Calculated
- Regular hours are paid at your hourly rate.
- On any workday, hours after 8 were paid at time-and-a-half, and hours after 12 at double time. All shifts on the same workday are added together.
